Red is the New Avocado

I bought new appliances yesterday. As I lamented about the stress of the washer, dryer, dishwasher, toaster oven, and instant hot water being out, a dear friend said "At times like this, (when you experience a life crisis), you need to say to yourself 'It's only money.'" So I took her advice and bought a washer, a dryer and a dishwasher. I wanted the red ones. But other friends told me that red is the new avocado, and will look dated in a few years. So I have the boring white ones. I would have bought a toaster, but we were in San Luis, and driving the Miata, and, trust me, there was not room for even a toaster.
